An Unforgettable Journey
A complete journey through the Peruvian Andes, discovering the flight of the condor in the Colca Canyon and culminating in the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu.
Day 01: Arrival in Lima
Arrival in the city of Lima, capital of Peru. Reception at the airport by our representative, who will welcome you and provide the corresponding transfer to the selected hotel.
Free time to rest. Overnight in Lima.
Day 02: Lima - Colonial and Modern City Tour (B)
In the morning, we will take a guided tour of the most representative historical and modern points of Lima. We will discover the colonial legacy by visiting the beautiful Main Square, the Government Palace, the Cathedral Basilica, the Archbishop's Palace, the Municipality of Lima and the historic Desamparados Train Station.
We will contemplate the viceregal splendor reflected in the classic mansions and Moorish-style balconies. Subsequently, we will visit the Church and the imposing Convent of San Francisco, touring its Museum of Art and its mysterious underground Catacombs.
Leaving the historic center, we will tour the residential and commercial areas of San Isidro and Miraflores, ending at the Love Park to enjoy a great view of the sea. Overnight in Lima.
Suggestion for the afternoon:
You can freely visit the Magic Water Circuit to enjoy an interactive show of fountains and lights, or take a pleasant walk along the Miraflores boardwalk contemplating the sunset over the Pacific.
Day 03: Lima / Arequipa - Historical City Tour and Monastery (B)
After breakfast, regular transfer to the airport to board the flight to the "White City" of Arequipa. Upon arrival, assistance and transfer to the selected hotel.
In the afternoon, we will take a complete guided City Tour starting at the Yanahuara Viewpoint, from where an impressive panoramic view of the city and the Misti volcano is obtained. We will continue to the beautiful Main Square and the exteriors of its temples built in sillar (white volcanic stone of local origin).
The peak visit will be to the majestic Santa Catalina Monastery, a magnificent fortified religious citadel with over 400 years of history that opened its doors to the public in 1970. Overnight in Arequipa.
Day 04: Arequipa / Route to the Colca Valley (B)
We will leave very early heading north out of the city through Yura. We will enter the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where you will have the opportunity to observe vicuñas, llamas and alpacas in their natural wild state.
Passing through Pampa Cañahuas, we will appreciate the Andean birdlife composed of flamingos, herons, Andean geese and the eagle of the Andes ("Kara Kara"). We will continue the ascent until arriving at Patapampa or the Viewpoint of the Volcanoes, reaching a privileged point at 4,800 meters of altitude with spectacular views of the snow-capped mountain ranges.
Arrival in Chivay, capital of the valley; assistance and accommodation at the hotel. Overnight in Chivay or Yanque.
Optional Activity: In the afternoon it is suggested to visit the thermal baths of "La Calera", whose medicinal waters tempered at 40°C are ideal for body relaxation.
Day 05: Condor Cross - Depth of the Canyon / Arequipa (B)
Early in the morning, we will start a fascinating tour bordering the left bank of the Colca River. We will visit traditional villages of great charm such as Yanque and Maca, knowing their colonial churches and sharing with local people who keep their beautiful hand-embroidered traditional costumes.
Along the way, hundreds of terraces (pre-Inca agricultural terraces) will be appreciated that are still in production of corn, quinoa and kiwicha. Upon arriving at the spectacular viewpoint of the "Condor Cross", we will contemplate the dizzying depth of one of the deepest canyons in the world and witness the imposing flight of the majestic Andean Condor.
On our way back to Chivay, we will observe the pre-Inca tombs and colonial lithomaquettes. After lunch, we will begin the return journey to Arequipa. Overnight in Arequipa.
Evening recommendation: It is suggested to enjoy a nice dinner in the restaurants with terraces located around the Main Square of Arequipa.
Day 06: Arequipa / Cusco - Historical City Tour & Surrounding Monuments (B)
At the appropriate time, transfer to the Arequipa airport to board the flight to the imperial city of Cusco. Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the selected hotel.
In the afternoon, you will be picked up from the hotel to start a complete guided tour of the historic center and peripheral monuments. The tour covers the historic Main Square, the magnificent Cathedral Basilica and the Temple of the Sun or Qoricancha (current Convent of Santo Domingo).
Subsequently, we will ascend to the outskirts of the city to tour the monumental Inca archaeological complexes of Sacsayhuamán, Q'enqo, Puka Pukara and Tambomachay, returning to the hotel at the end of the afternoon. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 07: Cusco / Full Day Excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas (B, L)
At approx. 09:00, we will depart for the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas following the course of the Vilcanota River. We will start with a panoramic view of the impressive Inca citadel of Písac and visit its traditional craft market on a guided tour.
We will continue the journey crossing the valley until arriving at the city of Urubamba, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch of local and international food.
In the afternoon, we will visit the majestic archaeological complex and fortress of Ollantaytambo, an urban prodigy of Inca architecture designed strategically to protect the valley from possible incursions. At the end of the tour, we will transfer directly to the Ollantaytambo train station to board the train service to Aguas Calientes, allowing you to spend the night at the foot of the wonder. Overnight in Machu Picchu Pueblo.
Day 08: Guided Tour in the Machu Picchu Sanctuary / Cusco (B)
After breakfast at the hotel, we will board the ascent bus together with our guide, which travels along the zigzagging road to the main entrance of the incredible Wonder of the World: the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
We will begin a complete guided tour of over two hours visiting the most important sectors of the complex: the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock (Intihuatana), the Royal Enclosures, the Temple of the Three Windows and the agricultural and urban necropolises.
At the end of the visit, we will take the descending bus to the town. In the afternoon, we will board the regular return train to the corresponding station and subsequent transfer to your hotel in Cusco. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 09: Cusco - Free Day for Individual Exploration (B)
Completely free day for rest, strolling through the picturesque cobbled streets of the Inca capital, visiting local museums or buying textiles and fine crafts in traditional markets.
Recommended optional excursions for this day:
- Guided hike to the Rainbow Mountain of Palcoyo or Vinicunca.
- Excursion to the impressive Humantay Lake.
- Half-day tour to Maras, the agricultural terraces of Moray and the ancestral Salt Mines.
Day 10: Cusco / Lima - International Departure (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. At the appropriate time, transfer service will be provided to the Cusco airport to board the regular return flight to the city of Lima, where you can connect on time with your international departure flight.
