Travel Itinerary

The Inca Jungle is the ideal tour for adrenaline lovers. It combines mountain biking downhill, hiking through the high jungle, original sections of the Inca Trail, and optional activities such as rafting and zip-lining, ending at the wonder of the world: Machu Picchu.

Day 1: Cusco - Santa Maria (Biking)

Pick up at 6:00 a.m. at the hotel. We will head in a private car (approx. 3 hours) towards Abra Malaga (4,316 m.a.s.l.), the starting point of our bicycle tour. After a briefing by our guide, you will be provided with full equipment. We will begin the descent by bike for 3 hours (55km) to the town of Huamanmarca.

Then we will head to the town of Santa Maria (30 minutes by car) where we will have our first lunch; we will spend our first night in basic accommodation. During the trip, we will experience the beauty of the snow-capped mountains, rapidly changing from a dry and cold climate to humid and hot.

Optional activity: Once in Santa Maria, we will have the option to do Class III and IV Rafting (extra tour) on the Urubamba River that crosses this part of the jungle.

Day 2: Santa Maria – Santa Teresa (Trekking)

After a delicious breakfast (approx. 6:30 a.m.) we will be ready to do the first day of trekking towards Santa Teresa. The first two hours will be uphill with stops to learn about the flora and fauna of the area, including a rest in a family home to stock up on water and tropical fruits.

Later we will cross an original section of the Inca Trail that connected Machu Picchu with Vilcabamba. We will have impressive views of the Huancarccasa canyon and descend to Quellomayo to have lunch and rest in hammocks.

We will continue with a 2-hour walk to the Cocalmayo hot springs, where we will enjoy its relaxing waters. Later we will head to the town of Santa Teresa to spend the night.

Day 3: Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes (Trekking)

After our breakfast (approx. 7:00 a.m.) we will begin the trek towards Aguas Calientes. First, we will walk for 3 hours through the Aobamba valley to the Intihuatana sector, passing a small checkpoint. We will enjoy our lunch overlooking the majestic mountains of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu.

The last 3 hours of the walk will be next to the railway line until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes.

Optional activity: Zip-line in Santa Teresa (100 soles).

Includes: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Accommodation (2 stars or at the passenger's choice).

Day 4: Machu Picchu

The most important day of the tour to see one of the 7 wonders of the world. We will start the climb on foot very early (4:30 a.m.) to appreciate the sunrise, it will be a 1.5-hour walk to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

We will have a 2-hour guided tour of the most important buildings and temples. Then you will have time to explore on your own and, if you have the respective ticket, climb Huayna Picchu mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain.

Later we will return to Aguas Calientes to take the return train to Ollantaytambo and transport to Cusco.
