Salkantay Trek 5 Days / 4 Nights

We pick up from 04:30 a.m. from your respective hotels, departing from Cusco at 05:00 a.m. We will pass through Izcuchaca and Limatambo until arriving at Mollepata (approx. 08:00 a.m.), where we will have breakfast and hand over 5 kilos to our muleteer.

We will board the bus again for 45 minutes to Marqoq'asa. We will begin a 2-hour hike to the Hornada Pata viewpoint (view of the Mollepata valley), and then continue for 3.5 hours to the lunch spot and campsite in Soraypampa.

Optional: Ascent to Humantay Lagoon (4,220 m.a.s.l.), 1h 20m up and 40m down.

Our tea time is approximately at 18:00 p.m., then dinner at 19:30 p.m. and overnight in tents.

Route: Marqoq'asa - Soraypampa (14 km, 5 hours).

At 05:00 a.m. we will have breakfast and continue our hike (06:30 a.m.) in a gradual ascent of 4 hours to the Salkantay Pass (4,650 m.a.s.l.). We will pass through Salkantay-pampa and Soyroq'ocha. At the pass, we will make an offering with coca leaves to the Pachamama and the Apu Salkantay.

We will make a 2.5-hour descent towards Huayrac-pampa where we will taste lunch. We will continue the hike from 4,100 m.a.s.l. to 2,900 m.a.s.l. for 3.5 hours, entering the high jungle until we reach our campsite in Chaullay (tea and dinner).

Route: Soraypampa - Salkantay - Chaullay (22 km, 10 hours).

After breakfast (06:00 a.m.), we will walk for 5.5 hours through the high jungle (flat ascents and descents). We will appreciate coffee plantations, orchids, bromeliads, and medicinal plants, arriving at Playa Sahuayaco for our buffet lunch.

We will board an included bus that will take us to the campsite in Santa Teresa. There we will have the option to visit the Cocalmayo hot springs (not included). We return to the camp for tea time and dinner at 18:00 p.m.

Route: Chaullay - Playa (14 km, 5 hours).

We will wake up in a tropical area full of nature, where our breakfast awaits us. We will continue our journey towards the Hydroelectric where we will have lunch in a restaurant.

After lunch, we will continue our walk through the tropical zone, following the train tracks, towards the town of Aguas Calientes. We will settle in the hostel and wait for dinner (18:30 p.m.).

Route: Santa Teresa - Hydroelectric - Aguas Calientes (14 km, 5 hours).

In the early morning, around 4:30 a.m., we will ascend towards the majestic Inca city of Machu Picchu. There we will have a guided tour of approximately 2 hours. The rest of the day will be free to visit Huayna Picchu (if you have entrance), the Inti Punku, or tour the citadel again.

We will return in the afternoon to the town of Aguas Calientes to take our return train to Ollantaytambo, followed by tourist bus to Cusco, ending at Plaza San Francisco.
