Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu 2 Days / 1 Night

Our guide will pick you up at your accommodation at 8:00 a.m. We will take the bus north of Cusco through the mountains and stop at a viewpoint where we will have an introduction to Inca history and can see fertile plains, terraces, and irrigation canals.

Then we will head to the ruins of Pisac, where we will learn about Inca culture and observe impressive stone architecture. We will descend to the Pisac handicraft market and continue by bus, bordering the Urubamba River, towards the city of Ollantaytambo. There we will visit the Inca fortress, where we will find rock formations representing the Andean god Wiracocha.

In the afternoon/evening (we book trains between 4:36 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m.) we will take the train to the town of Aguas Calientes, an approximately 2-hour trip. There we will have dinner and spend the night in our hostel.

After an early breakfast at your hotel, you will take a 25-minute bus ride to the Inca citadel (buses run as a shuttle system, starting at 5:30 a.m.). If you prefer, you can walk up instead of taking the bus (approx. 1 hour and 30 minutes).

Once at Machu Picchu, you will have a two-hour guided tour, followed by time to explore on your own. If you decided to book the permit to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, it will be your next adventure. You can also take the free hike to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku).

The usual departure for the return train to Ollantaytambo is in the afternoon, followed by a bus that will take you to your hotel in Cusco.
