Our excursion to Gocta begins at 9:00 AM from Chachapoyas towards the community of Cocachimba. Upon arriving at the town we will visit the Communal Tourism Association to register the visit and receive guidance prior to the walk. We will also make lunch reservations.
The walk lasts five hours round trip (there is the option of renting horses to alternate the journey). This excursion will allow you to appreciate primary forest, orchids, medicinal plants, timber trees, birds such as the Masked Trogon, the endemic Marbled Woodpecker, the Cock-of-the-Rock National Bird, and you can also see animals such as the Yellow-tailed Woolly Monkey among others.
We will also be able to see the daily life of the community, such as their mills for processing sugar cane, and we will be able to see archaeological remains of the Chachapoyas and evidence of geological formations from millions of years ago.
