Discover Chachapoyas in 7 Days
The ultimate seven-day Chachapoyas expedition that will immerse you in all the mysteries and beauties of the Amazon region, encompassing giant waterfalls, enigmatic mausoleums, impressive archaeological sites and beautiful viewpoints.
Day 1: City Tour and Canyon Route
Pick up from the terminal or airport to your chosen hotel.
10:30 a.m. or 02:30 p.m. We begin the tour to the viewpoint route. We head to the town of Huancas to visit the Mirador del Huanca Urco, where you can enjoy the landscape; We make a brief stop in the Plaza de Huancas and continue with the visit to the Mirador del Cañón del Sonche, where you can see the Sonche River.
Upon returning we finish the visit at the Mirador of the city of Chachapoyas.
Day 2: Kuelap, Cable Car and Walking Tour
10:00 a.m. Departure towards Kuelap: Departure towards the Nuevo Tingo district, where there will be a short stop to order lunches. Then they will travel on the first cable car system to the La Malca parador (approximately 25 minutes), where the tickets will be purchased. From there you begin a walk of approximately 30 minutes. until you reach the Kuelap Archaeological Complex, where you will take a tour of approximately 1 hour.
After that, they will enjoy a delicious lunch, then visit the Macro site and return to Chachapoyas.
07:30 p.m. Night Walking Tour: Departure towards the city viewpoint. We will begin a tour of the main streets of the city, accompanied by a specialized guide who will provide you with historical information. The tour will culminate in a traditional Chachapoyas bar, where you can enjoy a tasting of regional drinks.
Day 3: Quiocta Cavern and Karajía Sarcophagi
09:30 a.m. Departure: We travel from your hotel to the Lámud district, where we will stop to order lunches. Then we will move to the Quiocta Caverns where we can see and photograph large stalactites and stalagmites. After the visit you will enjoy a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon you will visit the Karajía Sarcophagi (a unique funerary pattern in the world located on top of rocky cliffs).
Return to the city between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m.
Day 4: Revash and Leymebamba Museum
08:00 a.m. Departure: We leave for the town center of San Bartolo. From there, we will begin the walk towards the Revash Mausoleums, made up of rectangular funerary houses (chullpas) of 1, 2 and 3 floors embedded in the rock.
In the afternoon, we will travel to the town of Leymebamba, where we will enjoy a traditional lunch. Then, we will visit the Mallqui Center Museum, which houses more than 2,000 objects, 200 mummies and an interesting collection of quipus brought from the mausoleums of the Laguna de los Cóndores.
06:30 p.m. Arrival at the city of Chachapoyas.
Day 5: Full Day Gocta Waterfall
09:30 a.m. Departure: We will travel to the town of Cocachimba, where we will make a short stop to order lunches and buy tickets. From there we will begin a walk of approximately 2 hours (with the option of renting horses) to reach the second fall of the immense Gocta Waterfall.
At the place, our guide will tell us some legends and stories. There will be enough time to take photographs. After the visit, we will have time for lunch and then we will return to the city of Chachapoyas between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m.
Day 6: Yumbilla Waterfall (Private Service)
08:00 a.m. Departure: Pick up at the Chachapoyas hotel and transfer to Cuispes (1h 30 min). Then you will begin a 2-hour walk to the Forest of the Falls, exploring a unique natural landscape.
During the tour we will visit the Medio Cerro Waterfall (50 min walk, with water crossing), the Cristal Waterfall (10 additional min) and finally the great Yumbilla Waterfall (896 meter drop, the second highest in Peru). In addition to the waterfalls, we can spot local fauna such as the cock-of-the-rock, the Andean toucan and the sloth bear, and flora such as bromeliads, orchids and giant ferns.
05:00 p.m. Return to the city of Chachapoyas.
Day 7: Tiger Sarcophagi
08:00 a.m. Departure: Departure to the town of San Jerónimo. From there, there will be a 2 and a half hour walk or horseback ride to the Mausoleums and Sarcophagi of El Tigre, a recently discovered site of the Chachapoya culture, declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation. During the journey, you will enjoy impressive mountain landscapes.
At the site, a guide will explain details of the site and you will enjoy a box lunch. Then, we will return to San Jerónimo, with a stop to observe the petroglyphs of La Pitaya.
06:30 p.m. Arrival back to Chachapoyas and end of our services.
