Travel Itinerary
The "Pacaya Samiria National Park" is known for being one of the most naturally beautiful areas of the country. The objective of this Tour in Pacaya-Samiria is for you to discover the spectacular natural diversity of flora and fauna, the magnificent wildlife and the history of the region.
It will be an unforgettable experience in a twelve-hour trip navigating the Amazon River, which will recall the adventures of the first European navigators through the Amazon jungle, or the pages of Love in the Time of Cholera by Garcia Marquez. This trip will take us to the community of Lagunas, located right next to the National Park of more than 2000 km2.
During the trip and upon arriving at the reserve, we will see squirrel monkeys, a large number of birds and animals, as well as plants of peculiar beauty. Our trip is also culture, you will hear legends of old hunters next to campfires, you will see, enjoy and understand our millenary dances and learn the history of our Amazonian peoples. Day 1: Tarapoto – Yurimaguas
Our qualified personnel will be waiting for you at the airport, to make the 2:30 hour transfer to the city of Yurimaguas. We will have dinner and overnight in a hotel in the city.
Day 2: Yurimaguas – Lagoons
This second day we start our adventure at 7 am sailing the Huallaga river for an approximate time of 6 hours to the Native Community of Lagunas. Upon arrival, we transfer to a community lodge.
In the afternoon after lunch we meet with our community guides. We will experience a jungle dinner and overnight in Lagunas.
Day 3: Lagoons – Posa Gloria
This very early day we start our adventure in the Pacaya Samiria Reserve. We will use a motorcycle-taxi as a means of transportation for 40 minutes.
Then we will navigate in rustic boats for the rest of the expedition. During our tour, we will be able to enjoy the exuberant Amazon Jungle of Peru, you can also observe and photograph dolphins, monkeys, macaws and even anacondas, among other heavenly animals of the jungle.
Day 4: Posa Gloria – Camotado
This day we start our exploration with short walks and we will use the rivers as a means of transportation using ancestral boats (chalupas and canoes dug out of trunks); Our guides will recognize medicinal plants that have been used for hundreds of years in the native communities of the place.
It will be a magnificent day to understand the importance of this protected area of Peru.
Day 5: Camotado – Panteon
This very early fifth day, we begin our tour with activities such as bird watching, sports fishing, observation of turtles, dolphins and macaws. We will take short walks and canoe rides to explore the small rivers (streams) of the reserve.
Day 6: Pantheon – Camotado
This day we begin our return to Camotado. On the way we will make stops to observe birds and enjoy nature. Upon arriving at Camotado, we will enjoy a free afternoon.
Day 7: Camotado – Lagoons
This seventh day we will leave the Pacaya Samiria reserve and transfer to the Native Community of Lagunas, where we will share a farewell dinner with our guides. Finally we will have a well-deserved rest staying overnight in a community lodge.
Day 8: Lagoons – Yurimaguas – Tarapoto
At 4 AM, we leave Lagunas to transfer to Yurimaguas by boat. Upon arriving in the city, a mobility will be waiting to transfer us to the city of Tarapoto.
